Florence Janss Resident Council

The Florence Janss Resident Council began as an informal group of tenants to empower tenants in public housing in Conejo Valley, CA to advocate for their rights and to ensure that every resident has access to safe, sustained, and habitable homes.

We are committed to building communities through collective action, fostering equity, and creating inclusive environments where all voices are heard and respected. We help organize tenants association in subsidized housing communities in Conejo Valley, CA. Tenant Association are sometimes called Resident Council, Resident Advisory Council or Tenant Union.

Tenants Meeting

We provide a platform for residents to come together, discuss community concerns, and collaborate on solutions. These gatherings foster open dialogue, idea sharing, and collective action, empowering tenants to actively participate in shaping their living environment and ensure their voices are heard.

Community Events

We host a variety of community events and activities to strengthen our community. These events include social gatherings, community barbecues, community outings, holiday celebrations, and arts and crafts. Demystifying Renting

We help by providing information and resources to residents, offer guidance on tenant rights, grievance procedures, empowering residents to make informed decisions and protect their rights. Additionally, we provide support and advocacy for tenants facing challenges such as unfair rent increases, maintenance issues, or reasonable accommodations.

Tenant Power

We help in power other apartment communities to form their own Tenant Associations by providing guidance, resources, and support. By building community network with new communities, we can accelerate our organizing and mobilizing process, creating a strong foundation for tenant power that can influence local and regional policies.
